Animals have always been a passion of mine, mostly because of my desire to help make sure they are being taken care of and loved. I grew up in a family where our dogs weren’t just pets, they were part of the family. To me there is no other way. A pet is part of your family and the love they should be receiving should be endless. As I got older, I started becoming involved in rescue. With the help of my amazing husband and 4 wonderful children, we opened our door to foster dogs. We helped dogs from the South find their forever families here in Wisconsin and showered them with love and care until they were ready for the next part of their journey. With this experience, it has taught me so much about dogs and what they need in order to be healthy, safe and happy! During the summer of 2021, I was given an amazing opportunity to follow my passion in working with and caring for animals, thus Leash Up was created. With the help of my “human” family and my 2 “fur” family members we wanted to offer a safe and loving home environment for pets to stay when their family is not able to be with them. My goal is that your pet feels like they are on a little vacation themselves, play a little longer, eat a few more snacks than normal and sleep in however long they’d like…hey, that’s what vacation is about, right?! I feel if your pet doesn’t require a kennel, there is no need for them to spend their time away from you in one. If they do require downtime or a safe place to lounge during night hours, we have a large 5ftx5ft kennel stocked with everything needed to enjoy a good night sleep or nap. At Leash Up, it is my promise to treat your pet like they are my family, they will be taken on walks, runs and even an occasional sporting event outside if they join us while the kids have an outdoor activity. Leash Up is not only my job but my passion that I have been given the gift of pursuing. I want every person leaving their pet at Leash Up to rest easy knowing they are in the best hands. Vacation or time away can be stressful, with Leash Up, you don’t have to worry about the care of your pet.

“Great way to have your dog slip right in with another family for the weekend and feel right at home. Our dog enjoyed having playmates to burn off some energy with and then curl up and take a nap with. They have a fenced in backyard for safe off leash play. I can rest easy during a few nights away knowing my dog is having just as much fun as we are! Would definitely recommend and use again in the future. "I hesitate to write a review, since Kari’s care is SO wonderful and I don’t want her to get too busy….since we’d love to have her watch our Lucy whenever we need care. 😊 We are extremely particular who I’d have to watch our dog, and Lucy is a timid dog also. We are home much of the time and she’s not used to being away from us. But she did excellent at Kari’s house. That was such peace of mind. I would recommend Kari’s care 100%. She has experience with puppies too, and we’re getting one in the spring, so she can watch both if we need it. It’s nice to know there is in-home dog care locally that is so honest, trustworthy, and caring.❤️🐶"
“I spent weeks worrying about kenneling our 18 month old pup, knowing he’s used to a posh life and sleeping in a crate or alone overnight would stress him out. We found Leash Up and Kari put me at complete ease within 30 seconds of talking with her. Fast forward to introducing our little guy to her home and she has everything under control! From how to introduce them to the house and other pups, to reading their body language to make sure they’re at ease, all the way to having “gated” eating time if needed so the dogs don’t steal each other’s food, she’s thought of everything! Our anxious dog is likely sad he had to come home compared to the attention and play time he got over the weekend while we were away. Even better, Kari sends adorable pictures and updates while you’re away so you’re never wondering how your dog is doing. I could likely write chapters about our amazing experience, but what speaks the most is this: we will without a doubt never use anyone other than Leash Up unless she’s booked up when we need her.
